Jeremy Bethea

Rev. Jeremy Bethea is the Pastor of the Historical Mount Olive Baptist Church. Jeremy Bethea is a lifelong resident of Bennettsville, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Johnny J. Bethea and the late Mary Edith Bethea. He is married to Dr. Kandace Rhames Bethea who serves as the Superintendent of the Marion School District. He has served there in the ministry for 21 years. Under his leadership, lives have been changed and families strengthened. The church serves as a beacon of hope for the community.

Pastor Bethea is a 1989 graduate of McColl High School, the school's last graduating class. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina where he was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He earned an Associate of Science Degree in funeral service from Gupton-Jones College in Atlanta, Georgia. He served seven years in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

In 1999 Jeremy Bethea was called into the gospel ministry and was licensed by the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In 2001 he was ordained by the Berea Baptist Association. Since 2002 he has served as Pastor of the Historic Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mullins, South Carolina. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He is actively involved in various community and church-related organizations and associations and enjoys his life of service. 

Pastor Jeremy and Dr. Kandace Rhames Bethea have three children: Justin, Jamison, and Jillian.
